Bench and reseat players

Keep a player on the roster while removing them from eligible unstarted seating.

Before you begin

Use an eligible unstarted match. Players in an in-progress match cannot be benched directly.

  1. 1

    Bench from Entrants / Seeding

Use Bench in the player's row. The action removes eligible unstarted seating while retaining the roster entry. For an in-progress match, the control is disabled with Undo Start first.

  2. 2

    Or open an eligible match

On Bracket, select Edit match. Before play or completion, eligible player slots expose Bench controls. Live / Stats is a viewing screen, not the match editor.

  3. 3

    Handle a mistaken start first

If a match was started in error, open Edit match and use Undo Start before attempting to change seating. Undo Start keeps its table. Do not use benching to record a loss or correct a completed result.

  4. 4

    Reseat deliberately

For a late arrival, use Fill this BYE on an eligible first-round bye and review the affected matches. In a generated draw with bye filling enabled, Unbench can leave the player benched and direct you to Fill a BYE. Check the actual bracket seat rather than assuming the button seated them.

What to check afterward

The roster is retained, and eligible seating reflects the change. Confirm the player's bracket position before calling them to a table.

Rebuilding the draw can bring benched players back into it and replaces results and assignments. Review the full roster before regenerating.
